I think you are confused about being born again. You suggest it is a process and, if you mean that, as you progress in your Christian journey, you get "better" by sinning less, witnessing more effectively and loving more, then I can agree.

But when you say that some equate being born again with a prayer, a walk down the aisle or some other thing such as baptism, I think you are biblically wrong.

Those things-at least as described by you-are works. They get you nowhere. Salvation is the acceptance of Jesus as Lord and Saviour and Romans 10 spells it out clearly in all the various versions of the Bible I have seen. Unless you somehow suggest being born again is not the same as being saved, justification, salvation, etc., you have numerous passages in the NT to overcome. I think the Bible is clear-either we are adopted into the Family or not. No process, no application, no waiting period-either in or out.

The prayer, often called the "Sinner's Prayer" is simply the calling, the acknowledging, the confession. It's not the words of the prayer that gets you in and you don't have to walk down an aisle to get saved. Repentance is that change of mind about sin, God and who He is.

Please remember-It is God who does the saving and God who keeps you saved. Again, one is either saved or lost.

Thank you for finding me. (I know it sounds strange me saying that)

I have only just got into this blogging game, even though I would consider myself quite computer and internet savvy. I have been surfing blogs for the last few days, and this is the only one geared towards the bible I have found. This is a breath of fresh air. I will definitely be adding you to my blogroll.
